Mehr oder weniger durchgängiges Band von Feuchtgebietskomplexen im Verlauf des verlandeten Altneckars bzw. des Rheinrandflusses mit Feuchtwiesen, Röhrichten, Seggenriedern und Bruchwäldern.

Vorkommen einer Vielzahl seltener und bestandsbedrohter Brut- und Zugvogelarten, insbesondere Vogelarten nach Anhang I EU-VSRL mit zum Teil landesweiter Bedeutung (u.a. Rohrweihe, Tüpfelralle, Wachtelkönig, Blaukehlchen, Großer Brachvogel) Traditionelle Grünlandnutzung Abfolge feuchter Geländemulden spiegelt den verlandeten Verlauf des spätpleistozänen Neckars (Rhein-Randfluß) wieder, Altmäander z.T. mit Vermoorungen.
