Zusammenhängendes Fließgewässersystem mit naturnahen und ausgebauten Bach- und Flußabschnitten, Waldmeister-Buchenwald, naturnahe Schlucht- und Hangmischwald, unterschiedl. Grünlandgesellschaften, Stillgewässer, Niedermoorkomplexe.

4.2 Quality and importance

Neben naturnahen Wäldern zeichnet sich die Vielfalt des Gebietes insbesondere durch Lebensraumtypen und Artvorkommen feuchter bzw. nasser Standorte aus. Z.B. Kalkreiche Niedermoore mit Sumpf-Glanzkraut, Strömer, Bachmuschel. Ehemalige Burganlage im Bereich der Tobel. Starke Erosion im Randbereich des Schussenbeckens (Tobelbildung). Gebiet umfasst Kuppen der Würm-Endmoräne. Steil eingeschnittene Tobel als Zeugnis der nacheiszeitlichen Entwicklung.
