Other Site Characteristics

Lokaliteten består af et stort inddiget marskområde, hvoraf en stor del an-vendes som græsningsareal. Området gennemskæres af den regulerede Brede Å og den uregulerede Rejsby Å.

4.2 Quality and importance

Ballum og Husum Enge og Kamper Strandenge udgør sammen med EF-fuglebeskyttelsesområderne nr. 49, 52, 53, 55, 57, 60 og 65 den internationalt mest betydende danske fuglelokalitet. Især Ballum Enge er sammen med Ballum Forland (EF-fuglebeskyttelsesesområde nr. 57) en meget vigtig rastelokalitet for Bramgås (Branta leucopsis), Kortnæbbet Gås (Anser brachyrhynchus) samt Mørkbuget Knortegås (Branta bernicla bernicla). Som ynglelokalitet er fuglebeskyttelsesområdet af mindre værdi. Der forekommer regelmæssigt mere end 20.000 vandfugle (svaner, gæs, ænder, vadefugle) i området.
