Other Site Characteristics

Habitaten ligger vest for israndslinien, hvor jordbunden er næringsfattig. Lindet Skov ( 401 ha) består for en stor del af nåletræsplantage på sandet bund. I skovens østside er der i 1920érne fredet et ca. 43 ha stort løvsskovsparti - en sjælden blandet og etageret bevoksning af storkronet gammel bøg og eg med underskov af selvsåede træer bl.a. kristtorn. Syd herfor i Hønning Plantage (506 ha) består størstedelen af plantagen af nåletræer, men i den nordlige del findes lidt egekrat der adskiller sig fra de fleste andre ved forekomsten af enkelte linde og bøge, der betragtes som relikter fra en tidligere blandskov, ca. 40 ha fredet. I det nordvestlige hjørne findes et lille hedemoseområde. Flyvesand præger især den sydlige halvdel. Her ligger Helm Polde, et lyngklædt område med øer af flyvesand, ca. 40 ha fredet. Derefter følger Lovrup Skov ( 345 ha) der indeholder meget naturskov i den nordvestlige del i form af egekrat bestående af stilk- og vintereg, bævreasp, samt underskov af tørst, derudover især granplantage. Øst for Lindet Skov ligger Lindet Mose (30 ha), der har en rig og varieret fauna.

4.2 Quality and importance

Lindet Skov, Hønning Plantage, Lovrup Skov og Lindet Mose er et område af meget stor betydning , da området rummer tre fre-dede områder med sjældne bevoksninger med bøg, eg og lyngklædte flyvesandsøer. M&E´s naturskovsstrategi omfatter 200 ha. Det er en vigtig botanisk lokalitet da egekratsfloraen rummer rødlistearterne Tysk Visse (Genista germanica), Otteradet Ulvefod (Lycopodium selago), Lund Ranunkel (Ranunculus nemorosus) og Lyng Vikke (Vicia orobus) og mange sjældne arter, samt et artsrigt indsande område med cypres ulvefod (Lycopodium tristachyum). Rovfugle forekommer med den ynglende liste-I art: hvepsevåge (Pernis apivorus) og nu også sortspætte, stor horugle.
