Kiruvere loodusala hõlmab tervikuna Kiruvere järv, mille pindala on ca 20 ha. Järve sügavus on kuni 11 m. Kallaste kõrgus on väga vahelduv, edelakaldal asub kõrge oos (Kütimägi). Järve põhi on valdavalt kruusane ja järve läbivool väga väike (vesi vahetub umbes 9 aasta jooksul). Järv toitub peamiselt allikaist, drenaaživeest ja Paunküla veehoidlast;

Kiruvere loodusala asuv Kiruvere järv on looduslikult rohketoiteliste järvede (3150) elupaigatüüp. Järve looduskaitseline seisund ning esinduslikkus on väga head, mis loob hea elupaiga hariliku hingu elupaigaks.
