Other Site Characteristics

Lümandu loodusala asub Rapla ja Harju maakondades. Ala pindala on ca 110 ha. Loodusala põhieesmärk on Vasalemma jõe lätte, seda ümbritseva poolloodusliku maastikukompleksi ning seal esinevate haruldaste ja ohustatud liikide, nagu näiteks eesti soojumika, hariliku käoraamatu, kahkjaspunase sõrmkäpa, soo-neiuvaiba ja suure käopõllu kaitse. Kõlvikuliselt on loodusala territoorium pea terves ulatuses soine metsamaa. Ala keskossa jääb Lümandu mõisa kompleks koos allikalise toitega tiigi ja mõisa ümbritsevate rohumaadega. Sellest nii põhja kui ka lõuna poole jäävad kunagised puisniidulaigud, millest osa on veel väga heas, osa aga suhteliselt metsastunud seisus.

Lümandu loodusalal kaitstavad elupaigatüübid on jõed ja ojad (3260), puisniidud (*6530), allikad ja allikasood (7160), lubjarikkad madalsood lääne-mõõkrohuga (*7210), nõrglubja-allikad (*7220), liigirikkad madalsood (7230), vanad loodusmetsad (*9010), rohunditerikkad kuusikud (9050), soostuvad ja soo-lehtmetsad (*9080), siirdesoo- ja rabametsad (*91D0) ning lammi-lodumetsad (*91E0). Loodusala on oluline eelkõige mitmekesise käpaliste floora ning allikate esinemise tõttu. Ala jäävad rohunditerikkad kuusikud on väga hea esinduslikkuse ja looduskaitselise seisundiga. Mitmekesine maastik on heaks elupaigaks kaunile kuldkingale (Cypripedium calceolus) ja eesti soojumikale (Saussurea alpina ssp. esthonica);Lümandu maastikukaitsealaLümandu maastikukaitseala on moodustatud Rapla Rajooni RSN Täitevkomitee 24. novembri 1981. a otsusega nr 268 kaitse alla võetud maastiku üksikelemendi «Lümandu allikad» ja Rapla Rajooni RSN Täitevkomitee 26. jaanuari 1988. a otsusega nr 26 «Kohaliku tähtsusega looduskaitseobjektide kinnitamine Rapla rajooni territooriumil» kaitse alla võetud Lümandu botaanilise kaitseala baasil.
