Sorgu loodusala (kuulub ka Pärnu lahe linnuala koosseisu) hõlmab väikest osa Pärnu lahest koos Sorgu saarega. Saar ise on merest väljaulatuv devoni aluspõhjaline moreenkõrgendik, mille kõrgus küündib põhjatipus 4,5 meetrini üle mere pinna ning mille vähene puittaimestik koosneb kadakast, kibuvitsast, verevast kontpuust, saarest, toomingast ja pihlakast.

Sorgu loodusalale jääv Sorgu saar kuulub elupaigatüüpi väikesaared ning laiud (1620). Esinduslik elupaik on looduskaitseliselt väärtuslik maastikuliselt ja merelindude pesitsusalana.
