Other Site Characteristics
Los rasgos principales del lugar vienen definidos por la descripción en sus clases de hábitats.
El Torcal de Antequera se encuentra en una zona de gran complejidad tectónica, situada en el límite entre las Zonas Externas de la Cordillera Bética (Subbético Interno) y las Zonas Internas. Al norte y sur aparecen unidades alóctonas (Trías de Antequera y Unidades del Campo de Gibraltar), con una relación paleogeográfica difícil de determinar.
Su emersión está ligada al plegamiento alpino, conservando tras ella su horizontalidad. La creación posterior de fracturas y fallas (diaclasas), su erosión y hundimiento, así como el modelado kárstico, han dado al espacio su particular configuración y paisaje, con numerosos corredores y formas caprichosas formadas por la disolución diferencial de los diferentes estratos horizontales de calizas. En las zonas bajas del espacio estos fenómenos no son tan evidentes, apareciendo litologías margosas. |
