Other Site Characteristics

Comprende un conjunto de llanuras en la margen derecha del río Tajo, que se desarrollan sobre materiales arenosos de cuencas sedimentarias y depósitos fluviales con algunos afloramientos graníticos.

4.2 Quality and importance

Es una zona ocupada por extensas superficies de pastizales xerofíticos anuales y baldíos, con una elevada riqueza y diversidad de aves esteparias, destacando las poblaciones de aguilucho cenizo, avutarda, sisón, ortega, alcaraván y cernícalo primilla.Conserva asimismo algunas formaciones de vegetación de ribera (fresnedas, saucedas, juncales, etc.) en los arroyos que surcan la zona y destaca la abundancia de charcas que sustentan hábitats de vegetación anfibia de lagunazos temporales, de gran interés. Existen asimismo algunos enclaves puntuales de dehesas, generalmente sobre lomas suaves, con un buen grado de conservación.
