Other Site Characteristics
| Este espacio incluye parte del sector vallisoletano de la comarca de Tierra de Campos, situado en el noroeste de la provincia, extendiéndose hacia las provincias de Zamora y León. Esta zona forma parte de la gran cuenca sedimentaria de la submeseta norte, recubierta principalmente por materiales sedimentarios terciarios blandos que conformaron, tras la erosión de materiales más duros (calizas), las campiñas actuales.
El territorio queda comprendido entre los ríos Cea y Valderaduey, tratándose de una campiña bastante uniforme dedicada mayoritariamente al cultivo agrícola de cereales de secano, con pequeñas superficies de cultivos de regadío. La matriz de cultivos agrícolas se ve interrumpida ocasionalmente por arroyos que forman pequeños valles en los que se mantienen algunos pastizales de escasa entidad. En un paisaje netamente deforestado, donde la horizontalidad es la nota predominante, son de destacar, por su importancia ecológica en estos ambientes, las pequeñas alamedas y choperas que perviven en torno a algunos arroyos. También se pueden encontrar algunas pequeñas lagunas temporales con un buen desarrollo de la vegetación palustre. |
4.2 Quality and importance
| Los valores que merecen mayor atención por su importancia numérica a escala regional son los ligados a zonas esteparias, tanto de especies con preferencia por lugares con altos porcentajes de pastizales, eriales y barbechos de larga duración como el sisón (Tetrax tetrax), la ganga ortega (Pterocles orientalis), el alcaraván (Burhinus oedicnemus) y la terrera común (Calandrella brachydactyla), como por otras especies tales como la avutarda (Otis tarda), el aguilucho cenizo (Circus pygargus), el cernícalo primilla (Falco naumanni) y la calandria (Melanocorypha calandra) que pueden aparecer con una mayor frecuencia en ambientes de cultivos extensivos de secano.
Es de destacar la población invernante de milano real (Milvus milvus) por su abundancia dado que las llanuras castellano leonesas acogen a una gran parte de los efectivos invernantes europeos. |
