Other Site Characteristics

El Valle del Alfambra es una depresión estructural de dirección N-S que atraviesa el curso del mismo nomrbe, al principio fuertemente encajado, ganando después amplitud en el tramo medio. Esta incisión fluvial es la causante de la erosión de los sedimentos miocenos que se conservan únicamente como cerros testigo coronados por una cornisa calcárea. Las Parameras del río Alfambra tienen dirección NE-SO formada por calizas y margas que forman un resalte que protege los materiales subyacentes de la erosión. La continuidad es mayor que las de los cerros testigo pero sin llegar a a ser una muela.

4.2 Quality and importance

Pequeña extensión de parameras supramediterráneas que alcanzan el piso oromediterráneo superando los 1.400 m en los puntos más altos, emplazadas entre la Sierra del Pobo y el río Alfambra, en la cuenca de dicho río. Paisaje alomado o llano, cubierto de un matorral almohadillado de Erinacea anthyllus. En algunas zonas, cubierta de sabina rastrera.Abarca un tramo del río Alfambra, en su cabecera, que forma una hoz que divide el territorio en dos sectores.Alberga una población de interés de Chersophilus duponti en su límite altitudinal. Una pequeña población de Pterocles orientalis en su límite de distribución altitudinal. También Calandrella brachydactyla y Anthus canpestris.En los cantiles, un pequeño núcleo de Gyps fulvus, recolonizado, y un territorio de Aquila chrysaetos.
