Other Site Characteristics

ZEPA situada en el norte de la provincia de Cáceres, en la comarca de Hervás. El humedal se encuentra sobre los límites de los términos de Caminomorisco, Casar de Palomero, Guijo de Granadilla, Mohedas de Granadilla, Pesga y Zarza de Granadilla. En este espacio se concentra ornitofauna acuática de gran importancia, como Cigüeña negra.

4.2 Quality and importance

Un hábitat referido en la Directiva Hábitat se encuentra representado en dicho enclave, correspondiéndose a estanques mediterráneos temporales. En este mismo enclave se encuentran un total de 6 taxones pertenecientes al Anexo I de la Directiva Aves y otros 7 de especies migrantes de regada regular. En cuanto al Anexo II de la Directiva Hábitats también encontramos 9 taxones, los reptiles Lacerta schreiberi y Mauremys leprosa, el anfibio Discoglossus galganoi y los invertebrados Euphydryas aurinia y Macromia splendens. En peces, aparecen los taxones Rutilus alburnoides, Barbus comiza, Cobitis taenia y Chondrostoma polylepis. En aves, se destacan las concentraciones invernales de Grus grus, y de Anas crecca, destacándose la presencia de Chlidonias niger, Aegypius monachus y Ciconia nigra en peligro.Además encontramos otros 10 taxones fuera del Anexo II de la Directiva Hábitats, 5 especies de anfibio, 4 especies de invertebrados y una de reptil.
