Área predominantemente agrícola, de relieve suave y con presencia de llanuras aluviales.

4.2 Quality and importance

Área de especial importancia y valor en Galicia para avifauna ligada al medio agrícola: cigüeña blanca (Ciconia ciconia), aguilucho cenizo (Circus pygargus), sisón común (Tetrax tetrax), alcaraván común (Burhinus oedicnemus) y avefría europea (Vanellus vanellus). Zona fronteriza entre las regiones biogeográficas atlántica y mediterránea. Si la consideramos incluida en la región biogeográfica atlántica, tendría un especial valor a nivel estatal para las siguientes especies: sisón común (Tetrax tetrax), alcaraván común (Burhinus oedicnemus) y avefría europea (Vanellus vanellus).
