4.2 Quality and importance

Alberga poblaciones nidificantes de 12 especies de aves acuáticas incluidas del Anexo I, e invernan de forma regular hasta 12 especies del mismo anexo. Representa la segunda localidad en importancia para la Focha Moruna, con el 30,3% de los efectivos regionales. Alberga destacadas poblaciones de Garza imperial (15,4%) y Fumarel Cariblanco (11,3%), así como una importante población nidificante de Carricerín Real. Además de las aves acuáticas, en las zonas de interior nidifican tres parejas de Águila-azor Perdicera y una de Águila Real.
