Other Site Characteristics

ZEPA discontinua constituida por tres pequeños núcleos montañosos de características similares. Albergan una característica vegetación del sector alicantino de la provincia florística murciano-almeriense, muy rica en endemismos y en formaciones singulares.

4.2 Quality and importance

Alberga poblaciones nidificantes de 10 especies de aves incluidas en el Anexo I de la Directiva 79/409/CEE. La zona es importante para la conservación del el Águila-azor Perdicera, que presenta un total de cinco territorios diferentes (4 parejas nidificantes en el censo de 2003). También destaca la presencia de hasta 2 parejas de Águila Real. La ZEPA alberga uno de los dos núcleos reproductores de Camachuelo Trompetero en la Comunidad Valenciana, con el 8,1% de los efectivos regionales, aunque parece que no llega a reproducirse en la zona todos los años. Además, nidifica el Halcón Peregrino, Búho Real y Culebrera Europea.Los rangos de las poblaciones de aves reflejadas en el apartado 3.2 muestran los contingentes mínimos y máximos registrados en el periodo 2003-2008, elaborados a partir de censos oficiales.
