Other Site Characteristics

Comunidades de fanerógamas marinas de Zostera noltii y Ruppia maritima. La Spartina maritima ocupa considerables extensiones en los dominios de sedimentación.Thero-Salicornietea; Arthrocnemetea.

4.2 Quality and importance

Importantes formaciones de Spartina y Juncus maritimus, así como una buena representación de Halimione portulacoides. En la zona interna de la ría se desarrolla un importante carrizal de Phragmites australis. Es destacable la presencia del endemismo Cochelaria aestuarica. La Ría de Foz presenta interés para la invernada de anátidas (>300) y para los estacionamientos durante los pasos migratorios de Espátula Comun (Platalea leucorodia) y de limícolas.Hay que destacar la presencia de Salmón Atlántico (Salmo salar) en el río Masma.
