Other Site Characteristics
La ZEC incluye el tramo del río Ayuda que discurre por el Condado de Treviño (dentro de la provincia de Burgos), así como sus tributarios presentes en este enclavado; río Arrieta, río Ascarza, río San Vicentejo, río Goveloste, río Saraso, río Zurbaraday, río Arana, río Barruntia y los arroyos San Pedro, Aranvide, Granado, Cineguchi y San Juan. Las riberas de la ZEC albergan notables formaciones riparias entre las que se destacan las alisedas, choperas y saucedas. |
4.2 Quality and importance
La motivación principal para la inclusión de esta zona en la red Natura 2000 es la presencia de poblaciones de visón europeo (Mustela lutreola). Ha sido citada también la presencia de desmán ibérico (Galemys pyrenaicus), que requiere de estudios actualizados que evalúen su distribución y estado de conservación. Otros elementos faunísticos de interés presentes en el Espacio son la nutria (Lutra lutra), el sapillo pintojo meridional (Discoglossus jeanneae), la madrilla (Parachondrostoma miegii) y la bermejuela (Achondrostoma arcasii).
Las riberas del Espacio albergan notables formaciones riparias entre las que se destacan las alisedas (91E0), con formaciones maduras y bien conservadas de elevada diversidad florística. También son destacables las extensas choperas-saucedas (92A0), de elevado interés faunístico, y las formaciones de plantas acuáticas propias del hábitat 3150.
Este Espacio alberga varias especies de flora amenazadas, protegidas, endémicas o de elevado interés. En el apartado 3.3 (Otras especies importantes de flora y fauna) se han incluido todas aquellas recogidas en los anexos IV o V de la Directiva Hábitats, convenios internacionales (C) y/o Lista Roja Nacional actual (A) y además se han incluido por el motivo D (Otros) aquellas especies recogidas en la normativa nacional o regional de protección de flora. De este modo, por el motivo D, se han incluido por estar recogidas en la normativa regional actual de protección de flora las siguientes especies: Convallaria majalis L., Epipactis palustris (L.) Crantz, Equisetum hyemale L. y Taxus baccata L. Además, se ha indicado también este motivo D (recogidas en la normativa regional actual de protección de flora) en las siguientes especies que a la vez cumplen alguno/s de los otros criterios (anexos IV o V, Convenios internacionales, Lista Roja Nacional, Especie endémica): Hypericum caprifolium Boiss. y Ruscus aculeatus L. |
