Other Site Characteristics
El Espacio incluye prácticamente todo el río Cidacos a su paso por la provincia de Soria y su afluente, el río Baos, de tal modo que ambos cursos fluviales quedan totalmente protegidos con otras ZEC propuestas en la provincia (a excepción de un pequeño tramo del Cidacos en su cabecera). En los márgenes y alrededores de estos ríos se encuentran icnitas de dinosaurios, uniendo de esta manera el interés paleontológico al interés natural y científico.
A lo largo del río se encuentra una interesante galería mixta de montaña, con presencia de estrechas franjas de vegetación riparia de bosques de galería en los tramos medios y bajos de los ríos Baos y Cidacos, formadas por chopo negro (Populus nigra) y diversas especies de sauces. En las zonas de cabecera, en las inmediaciones de Vizmanos y Santa Cruz de Yangüas, además de estas especies, componen también el bosque de galería otras como el fresno de hoja ancha (Fraxinus excelsior), el avellano (Corylus avellana), el arce campestre (Acer campestre) y el álamo temblón (Populus tremula). Además, formando parte de la banda riparia podemos encontrar hayas y acebos. |
4.2 Quality and importance
El valor de mayor interés del Espacio radica en la presencia de dos especies de mamíferos acuáticos amenazados: el visón europeo (Mustela lutreola), presente sobre todo en los tramos bajos del río Cidacos, y el desmán ibérico (Galemys pyrenaicus), del cual se ha conformado recientemente su presencia en el Espacio. Otros elementos faunísticos con poblaciones de interés son el cangrejo de río (Austropotamobius pallipes), la madrilla (Parachondrostoma miegii) y la nutria (Lutra lutra).
En cuanto a los hábitats naturales más representativos del Espacio destacan las fresnedas riparias (91E0*) y las saucedas-choperas arbóreas (92A0).
Este Espacio presenta varias especies de flora amenazadas, protegidas, endémicas o de elevado interés. En el apartado 3.3 (Otras especies importantes de flora y fauna) se han incluido todas aquellas recogidas en los anexos IV o V de la Directiva Hábitats, Convenios internacionales (C) y/o Lista Roja Nacional actual (A) y además se han incluido por el motivo D (Otros) aquellas especies recogidas en la normativa nacional o regional de protección de flora. En este caso concreto se trata solamente de por un lado Convallaria majalis L. y Epipactis fageticola (Hermosilla) Devillers-Tersch. & Devillers que están incluidos en la normativa regional actual de protección de flora y Narcissus eugeniae Fern. Casas que está incluido en Lista Roja Nacional y en la normativa regional actual de protección de flora, además de ser endémica. |
