Other Site Characteristics

Laderas cubiertas por matorrales basófilos y gipsófilos, en cuya base existen parcelas dedicadas a olivar y cultivos herbáceos de secano.

4.2 Quality and importance

Las laderas de Tendilla contienen una muestra de las comunidades gipsófilas existentes en numerosos barrancos de la Alcarria de Guadalajara, algo más empobrecidas en especies gipsófilas que los yesares del valle del Tajo o de la Alcarria Conquense, que manifiestan la mayor riqueza dentro de la subalianza Lepidium subulati. Junto a las estepas yesosas, donde a veces aparecen costras de yesos y líquenes, están presentes otros hábitats como los espartales ó pastizales salinos con juncales en enclaves con rezumaderos de aguas duras, donde se desarrolla, entre otras especies, el junquillo negral o Schoenus nigricans. Asimismo, es de interés la presencia de Thymus lacaitae, Ononis tridentata, Teucrium pumilum, Ephedra fragilis, Helianthemum squameatum, Lygeum spartium, Herniaria fruticosa y Gypsophila struthium. Dentro de sus valores sobresalientes y especies más representativas cabe mencionar, además, las aves esteparias con predominio de aláudidos.
