Other Site Characteristics

LIC conformado por una cueva refugio de quirópteros situada en el término municipal de Valle de Santa Ana, al suroeste de la comunidad. Se localiza en las cercanías de las Dehesas de Jerez, otro espacio propuesto. Se trata de una cueva natural de profundidad media situada en las cercanías de la localidad de igual nombre.

4.2 Quality and importance

Un total de 6 elementos referidos en la Directiva se encuentran representados en dicho enclave. De ellos 2 son hábitats (cueva no explotada por el turismo y dehesa de quercíneas en su entorno) y los 4 restantes se corresponden con especies de quirópteros incluidos en el Anexo II (los murciélagos de herradura grande, mediano y pequeño y el murciélago ratonero grande).Pese a no contar con un importante número de murciélagos, éstos se corresponden con especies amenazadas, especialmente en el caso del murciélago mediano de herradura. El refugio muestra su mayor importancia durante el invierno.
