Other Site Characteristics

Espacio situado en la solana de la comarca de la Cerdanya, muy proximo al fondo del valle. Su ubicación corresponde a parte baja de la ladera de un valle pirenaico. En estas partes bajas es donde el clima, aunque con marcado carácter continental, tiene un importante componente mediterráneo, que permite en estas zonas la presencia de sistemas naturales y especies claramente mediterráneos, que penetran de esta manera en el territorio alpino.

4.2 Quality and importance

Hay que destacar de este espacio el interés biogeogràfico que tiene, al ser un buen representante de hábitats de tipo mediterráneo en la región alpina. Estos hábitats mediterráneos llegan a la región alpina a través del fondo de los valles, originando en algunas zonas microambientes muy particulares y variantes singulares y biogeográficamente significativas de hábitats típicamente mediterráneos.También hay que destacar que se trata de una espacio importante para la representación de determinadas especies, sobretodo de Gypaetus barbatus.
