Río de típico régimen atlántico que transcurre por el bajo Aran rodeado de una vegetación de ribera en galería que se desarrolla en los bordes del cauce del río. El conjunto formado por la vegetación y el río nos muestra el paisaje típico de los cursos de agua de la Europa húmeda.

4.2 Quality and importance

Único río de carácter atlántico que conserva sus sistemas naturales fluviales en buen estado. Su extraordinaria singularidad recae en la particularidad de su vegetación caracterizada por alisedas con plantas de afinidad atlántica muy raras en Catalunya y en una fauna propia de los ambientes pirenaico-atlánticos.
