Other Site Characteristics

Los Islotes de Tabarca comprenden cuatro islas o islotes: Tabarca (41,9 ha), La Cantera (1,77 ha), La Galera (0,49 ha) y La Nau (0,48 ha). Los islotes de la Nao y La Galera son pequeños afloramientos rocosos, no alterados por la acción humana y sin presencia de especies introducidas. Representan el único lugar de nidificación de aves marinas en el conjunto de islotes de Tabarca.

4.2 Quality and importance

Alberga poblaciones nidificantes de una especie de ave marina incluida en el Anexo I de la Directiva 79/409/CEE, presentando una de las escasas colonias de cría de Paíño Europeo en la Comunidad Valenciana, que nidifica en los islotes de La Galera y La Nau (3,6% de los efectivos regionales de la especie). Los rangos de las poblaciones de aves reflejadas en el apartado 3.2 muestran los contingentes mínimos y máximos registrados en el periodo 2003-2008, elaborados a partir de censos oficiales.
