4.2 Quality and importance

Se trata de una zona con gran diversidad. Contiene excelentes representaciones de los hábitats "estepas yesosas salinas", "vegetación halófila mediterránea continental" y más del 2% de "pastizales rupícolas crasifolios calcícolas cársticos", así como la representación más interior de la C. Valenciana del hábitat "matorrales esclerófilos cerrados o abiertos de dunas y arenales costeros". Se localiza aquí la Sima de Borreguillos (Monóvar), considerada el 7º refugio en importancia de murciélagos de la C. Valenciana. Igualmente resulta muy importante para aves rapaces.
