4.2 Quality and importance

Área que alberga la mejor representación de las comunidades de matorrales sobre yesos de la Comunitat Valenciana, suponiendo en conjunto más del 2 % del hábitat para el conjunto de la región mediterránea española. También merecen destacarse los tarayares asociados a estos mismos medios. Es importante para rapaces, y alberga varias especies vegetales endémicas y extremadamente raras. Además, se incluye un sector importante del río Cautabán y de su afluente, el río Zarra, de interés para ciertas especies de ictiofauna.
