Espacio marino situado sobre la plataforma continental, donde alcanza una profundidad máxima superior a 50 m en la parte más alejada de la costa situada frente a la Punta des Puig Negre. Geológicamente, se encuadra en el promontorio balear, en las islas Pitiusas.

4.2 Quality and importance

Los fondos del espacio marino protegido se encuentran cubiertos en su parte costera por extensas praderas de Posidonia, como parte de la distribución espacial casi continua de este tipo de hábitat en la isla de Ibiza. Respecto a las especies de interés comunitario en la zona, destaca la presencia del delfín mular (Tursiops truncatus), siendo éste el cetáceo más común en la plataforma continental de las islas Baleares. También hay constancia de avistamientos en la zona de tortuga boba de origen Atlántico
