Other Site Characteristics
| Respecto a la geomorfología de la ZEC, situada en el sector oriental de la Cordillera Bética, en función del tipo de morfogénesis dominante se distinguen las siguientes unidades geomorfoedáficas: áreas de morfogénesis fluvio-coluvial, debido a los procesos de erosión-acumulación causados por la red hidrológica superficial dando lugar a formas donde predominan las llanuras y planos inclinados. Zonas con morfogénesis de tipo denudativo, constituidas por áreas en las que los movimientos orogénicos no han actuado o lo han hecho sobre materiales poco compactos. Se distinguen colinas con moderada influencia estructural, y lugares con morfogénesis de tipo kárstico, ligadas a la abundancia de litologías de tipo carbonatado y una fuerte actividad de los procesos de disolución, que se plasma tanto en forma de karst exógeno (lapiaces, dolinas y poldjes), como karst endógeno (cuevas, simas y grutas). Los suelos son principalmente pedregosos y de poca profundidad. |

| Zona importante para especies y hábitats de interés comunitario de la Directiva 92/43/CEE. Destacando las formaciones boscosas y pastizales, así como la elevada diversidad de flora y fauna existente; contando con numerosos endemismos. Área de interés para el grupo de las aves, especialmente para las rapaces tanto rupícolas como forestales que se encuentran ampliamente representadas. Las zonas más llanas, poseen una elevada diversidad de paseriformes esteparios. |
