Other Site Characteristics

El lugar se situa sobre terrenos sedimentarios y aluviales de la depresión del Guadalquivir. El cauce tiene una anchura de 10 metros y se sitúa sobre el acuífero detrítico denominado Aluvial del Guadalquivir. La parte de su desembocadura queda incluida dentro del área paisajística Valles, vegas y marismas interiores y la parte aguas arriba dentro del área Campiñas alomadas, acolinadas y sobre cerros.La vegetación potencial de la ZEC Tramo Inferior del Río Guadajoz se corresponde con la serie EH9: geoserie edafohigrófila mesomediterránea inferior y termomediterranéa hispalense basófila. En la primera banda riparia debería hallarse la serie de vegetación de la sauceda. Sin embargo, debido a los procesos de degradación que ha ido sufriendo la vegetación de ribera, el curso del río se desarrolla sin apenas vegetación en sus márgenes.

La masa de agua permite el desarrollo de una gran variedad de especies animales y vegetales que necesitan el medio acuático para completar su ciclo biológico o como fuente de alimentación, entre ellos especies endémicas de la península ibérica. También es importante la colonia de aves paseriformes que habita el lugar.
