Other Site Characteristics

Espacio con relieve montañoso con considerables pendientes y una altitud media de 2.037 metros. En su extremo oriental contacta con la ZEC Sierra Nevada constituyendo una prolongación de esta última en cuanto a sus características y conformando un lugar importante para la dispersión y campeo de especies presentes en ambas ZEC; entre las que se encuentran numerosos endemismos.

Importante para diversos hábitats de la Directiva 92/43/CEE, destacando los prados y matorrales de alta montaña, y especialmente los característicos piornales (5120).
