Other Site Characteristics
El espacio pertenece a la zona suroriental centroibérica del Macizo Hespérico y se caracterizan por la presencia de un relieve de tipo apalachiano, con ondulaciones suaves, propias del paisaje típico de Sierra Morena, que se ven interrumpidas por marcados valles fluviales que llegan a ser muy angostos en ocasiones y con una alineación predominante NO-SE. |
4.2 Quality and importance
Zona importante para especies y hábitats de interés comunitario, Directiva 92/43/CEE, destacando los hábitats de bosque donde predomina las masas mixtas de Quercus, así como las formaciones de matorrales mediterráneos. Otros hábitats de especial importancia son los hábitats de ribera y la vegetación casmofítica asociada a las pendientes rocosas y/o roquedos. Entre las especies de la Directiva, destaca la presencia de algunas amenazadas como el Lynx pardinus y Canis lupus, así como la especie endémica Centaurea citricolor. Por otro lado, el espacio es importante para el grupo de las aves, en especial para las rapaces, con presencia de Aquila adalberti, Aegypius monachus, Aquila chrysaetos, Falco naumanni o Hieraaetus fasciatus. Por último, la ZEC desempeña una importante función como área de expansión y corredor ecológico garantizando la continuidad espacial de las poblaciones de numerosas especies. |
