El área central abarca las crestas del edificio dorsal que con dirección ONO-ESE configura este sector de la isla, con alturas que en buena parte superan los 1000 metros y en el punto más alto alcanza los 1500 metros. El sector meridional forma una meseta inclinada, cubierta por coladas lávicas y salpicada de conos volcánicos.
