Gran cuenca de orientación sureste que comprende los barrancos de Benchijigua y Garimiar, que confluyen dando lugar al barranco de Santiago. El matorral termófilo se sitúa en la cabecera y laderas superiores de la cuenca imbricándose con el tabaibal-cardonal de zonas inferiores. Importantes palmerales destacan en los cauces y sus proximidades.

La presencia de uno de los palmerales más importantes de la isla. Destaca también la existencia de taxones vegetales de gran interés, como Anagyris latifloia y Limonium dendroides, y otros endémicos raros y/o amenazados.
