Área marina costera protegida del viento y del mar dominante

4.2 Quality and importance

Litoral con aguas cálidas y en calma durante la mayor parte del año, al encontrarse a sotavento de los vientos dominantes. Esta zona también se caracteriza por ser una importante área de concentración de diversas especies de cetáceos (destacando Tursiops truncatus), y de descanso y alimentación de la tortuga boba (Caretta caretta). Por otro lado, la fauna bentónica presenta una alta diversidad presenta una alta afinidad tropical, lo que le confiere una especial singularidad. Es zona de paso de grandes peces pelágicos.
