Other Site Characteristics

Runsas ja pitkä kevättulva on alueelle tyypillinen piirre; rannoilla kasvaa runsaasti korteikkoja ja saraikkoja. Poosjärvessä on runsaasti eri kokoisia saaria ja luotoja. Saaret ovat suurimmaksi osaksi lehtipuuvaltaisia ja kasvillisuus on lehtomaista. Pienemmät luodot ovat puuttomia lintuluotoja. Rannat ovat luhtaisia. Osaa rantaluhdista ja -metsistä on laidunnettu

4.2 Quality and importance

Poosjärven on harvinaislaatuinen lintuvesialue, sillä järveä ei säännöstellä ja vedenkorkeuden vaihtelu on lähes luonnollinen. Rehevöityminen on ongelma. Järven vedenpintaa on nostettu. Rannoilla on runsaasti loma-asutusta ja muutama vakituinen asunto, jotka kärsivät runsaista kevättulvista. Kaikki tietolomakkeen taulukon 3.2 lajit kuuluvat alueen suojeluperusteisiin ja kaikkien niiden suojelutavoitteena on vähintäänkin alueen merkityksen säilyttäminen osana verkostoa. Lisäksi alueen suojelussa ja hoidossa painotetaan seuraavia tavoitteita: - lajien ja niiden elinympäristöjen tila säilytetään turvaamalla luonnon omien prosessien mukainen kehitys, - lajien ja elinympäristöjen tila säilytetään myös alueen käyttöä ohjaamalla, - lajien ja niiden elinympäristöjen tila säilytetään hoitotoimenpiteillä, - lajien ja niiden elinympäristöjen määrää lisätään elinympäristön ennallistamis- ja hoitotoimenpitein, joilla myös parannetaan elinympäristöjen laatua tai lajin populaation elinvoimaisuutta.
