Other Site Characteristics

Rakkolanjoen yläjuoksulla sijaitseva Haapajärvi on valuma-alueeltaan melko suuri, hyper-eutrofinen järvi. Järven itäpuolinen ranta on loiva ja peltoihin rajoittuva, länsipuolella vallitsee kallioinen, metsää kasvava ranta. Pensaikkovyöhyke puuttuu lähes kokonaan. Järven ilmaversoiskasvillisuus on tavattoman rehevää, ruovikkovyöhyke on paikoin parisataa metriä leveä.

4.2 Quality and importance

Haapajärven linnusto on järviemme monipuolisimpia. Lajistossa on lukuisia harvinaisuuksia (mm. ruovikkolajit ja rantakanat). Vesilintujen ja kahlaajien laji- ja yksilömäärät ovat poikkeuksellisen suuria. Muutonaikainen merkitys on hyvin huomattava. Järvi on myös tärkeä metsästysalue. Veden laadultaan järvi on ylirehevä, mikä on seurausta aiemmasta, järveen kohdistuneesta jätevesikuormituksesta. Järven rannoista varsin pieni osa on rakennettu. Voimakkaan metsästyksen vaikutus näkyy linnustossa. Suojelutavoitteen määrittely: Kaikki tietolomakkeen taulukossa 3.2 mainitut lajit kuuluvat alueen suojeluperusteisiin ja kaikkien niiden suojelutavoitteena on vähintään alueen merkityksen säilyttäminen osana verkostoa. Lisäksi alueen suojelussa ja hoidossa painotetaan seuraavaa tavoitetta: - alueella vallitseva luontotyyppien ja lajien sekä niiden elinympäristöjen tila säilytetään alueen käyttöä ohjaamlla. - lajin elinympäristön laatua tai lajin populaation elinvoimaisuutta parannetaan ennallistamis- ja hoitotoimenpitein.
