Other Site Characteristics

Runsasravinteinen, järvenlaskun seurauksena mataloitunut, noin 0,5 metriä syvä umpeenkasvava lintujärvi. Valtalajeina ovat pullosara, leveäosmankäämi, järviruoko, järvikorte ja kiiltopaju, joiden kasvustot reunustavat alle 15 hehtaarin avovesialuetta.

4.2 Quality and importance

Merkittävä lintujärvi. Pesimälinnustoltaan monipuolinen, merkitystä pohjoiseen muuttavien vesilintujen ja kahlaajien levähdys- ja ruokailupaikkana. Pesivien lintujen kannat taantuneet voimakkaasti viime vuosina umpeenkasvun myötä. Kuokkalammen luonnetta lintujärvenä on viimeisen 10-20 vuoden aikana muuttaneet veden pinnan aleneminen ja umpeenkasvu. Seuranneen avovesialan pienenemisen, veden syvyyden laskun ja rantaluhtien kuivumisen myötä alueella pesivien kosteikkolajien määrä on pienentynyt, eniten ovat kärsineet vesilinnut. Vedenpinnan nosto parantaisi alueen linnustollista arvoa. Suojelutavoitteen määrittely: Kaikki tietolomakkeen taulukossa 3.2 mainitut lajit kuuluvat alueen suojeluperusteisiin ja kaikkien niiden suojelutavoitteena on vähintään alueen merkityksen säilyttäminen osana verkostoa. Lisäksi alueen suojelussa ja hoidossa painotetaan seuraavaa tavoitetta: - alueella vallitseva lajien sekä niiden elinympäristöjen tila säilytetään turvaamalla luonnon omien prosessien mukainen kehitys. - lajin elinympäristön laatua tai lajin populaation elinvoimaisuutta parannetaan ennallistamis- ja hoitotoimenpitein.
