Other Site Characteristics

Kieverrysjärvien alue lähes luonnontilaisine järvineen, soineen sekä vanhoine metsineen muodostaa erämaisen ja maisemallisesti kauniin kokonaisuuden itärajan tuntumaan. Alueella asustaa suurpetoja ja sieltä on löydetty vaateliaita vanhojen metsien kääpiä. Alueen pohjoisosaa hallitsevat laajat avosuot ja Kieverrysjärvien erämainen maisema, eteläosa on 80-luvun puolivälin jälkeen tehtyjen hakkuiden vuoksi rikkonaisempi. Metsät ovat ikääntyneitä kuivahkoja- ja tuoreita kankaita. Maasto on paikoin harjumaista ja aihkimäntyjä, keloja ja maapuita on runsaasti. Otrosvaaran rinteillä paikoin lehtomaista kangasta sekä korpea runsaine lehtipuustoineen. Vanhoja palonjälkiä on tasaisesti koko alueella. Rannoilla on paikoin isovarpuista rämettä. Kieverrysjoki ja Russakkapuro ovat luonnontilaisia ja varsiltaan reheviä. Järvet muodostavat merkittävän pienvesikokonaisuuden. Kieverrysjärviin kuuluvat Porojärvi, Hukkalampi, Syrjänlampi, Syvälampi ja Juolunka. Järvien ympäristö on luonnontilaista, lukuun ottamatta Porojärven ja Hukkalammen länsipuolen nuoria talousmetsiä.

Kaikki tietolomakkeen taulukoissa 3.1 ja 3.2 mainitut luontotyypit ja lajit (lukuun ottamatta edustavuudeltaan luokkaan D luokiteltuja luontotyyppejä ja populaation merkittävyyden osalta luokkaan D luokiteltuja lajeja) kuuluvat alueen suojeluperusteisiin ja kaikkien niiden suojelutavoitteena on vähintäänkin alueen merkityksen säilyttäminen osana verkostoa. Lisäksi alueen suojelussa ja hoidossa painotetaan seuraavia tavoitteita: Alueella vallitseva luontotyyppien ja lajien sekä niiden elinympäristöjen tila säilytetään turvaamalla luonnon omien prosessien mukainen kehitys,
