Other Site Characteristics

Les Pâtis d'Oger et du Mesnil-sur-Oger sont situés sur un plateau culminant à une hauteur de 245 mètres constituant la cuesta dénommée " Côte de l'Ile-de-France ", à la limite des régions naturelles de la Brie champenoise et de la Champagne crayeuse. Ce secteur comporte une mosaïque de milieux variés : de très nombreuses mares, des étangs, les landes à callune et genêts, des pinèdes à pin sylvestre et une chênaie sessiliflore. Fermeture du milieu, plantations, travaux au niveau des mares. Dans l'ensemble, ces landes sont en relativement bon état, mais celles d'Oger sont plus altérées par la colonisation pré-forestière..

4.2 Quality and importance

Les Pâtis du plateau tertiaire de la région d'Epernay correspondent à d'anciens parcours à ovins et bovins, aujourd'hui occupés par des landes relictuelles. Les nombreuses mares constituent les cicatrices des anciennes exploitations de pierre meulière. Elles sont peu profondes et sont généralement acides mais quelques unes sont alcalines ou mésotrophes. Ces landes ont un caractère continental. Le paysage végétal est constitué de landes à genêts, à callunes, entrecoupées de molinaies, de fruticaies, de pinèdes à pins sylvestres au port rabougri, de hêtraies, de chênaies acidiphiles et de mares à végétation amphibie et aquatique. On y dénombre de nombreuses espèces végétales et animales rares ou protégées ou rares dans les plaines de France.
