Other Site Characteristics

Le site est essentiellement composé de prairies naturelles humides à marécageuses, pâturées ou fauchées, reposant sur des marnes de Brienne (Crétacé inférieur - Albien supérieur) très argileuses et hydromorphes. Ces prairies accueillent une flore exceptionnellement riche, aux espèces rares ou en très forte régression, tels que l’Ail anguleux, la Gratiole officinale, la Gesse des marais et le Pâturin des marais. Outre leur intérêt floristique, ces prairies humides attirent aussi beaucoup d’insectes et amphibiens. De même, une grande héronnière s’est installée depuis une 10aine d’années en bordure du site. Très bon état actuellement. Maintenir les activités pratiquées jusqu'à ce jour. Les groupements végétaux de la Directive Habitats sont très sensibles aux facteurs édaphiques. Ils nécessitent une nappe phréatique élevée, des sols hydromorphes (pas de drainage) et oligotrophes (pas ou peu de fertilisants). Le maintien de la fauche est nécessaire afin de maintenir l'Arrhenatherion. Le maintien d'une très forte hydromorphie est favorable au Cnidion.

4.2 Quality and importance

Les prairies de Courteranges sont des prairies humides à marécageuses, pâturées ou fauchées (Molinion proche du Cnidion). La flore est exceptionnellement riche. Nombreux taxons rares en France ou en très forte régression. Ce site est complémentaire au plan ornithologique des plans d'eau de la forêt d'Orient. Présence à proximité d'une grande héronnière.
