Other Site Characteristics
| La ZPS se compose de 3 grands types de milieux : les grands massifs forestiers de feuillus à dominance de chênes, ainsi que les forêts rivulaires et littorales ; les secteurs agricoles de cultures et systèmes agropastoraux ; et enfin, les zones humides des grands lacs réservoirs, de nombreux étangs et cours d'eau. Cette variété de milieux attire une grande diversité ornithologique. En effet, plus de 250 espèces d'oiseaux, dont 130 nicheuses, fréquentent le site. On y trouve de nombreuses espèces patrimoniales, par exemple, la Grue cendrée, les Oies cendrée et des moissons, le Cygne de Bewick, la Cigogne noire, le Blongios nain, le Milan noir, le Pygargue à queue blanche, la Bondrée apivore, etc.

| Le site des lacs de la forêt d'Orient est un vaste territoire constitué de plusieurs types de milieux (grands massifs forestiers, lacs, nombreux étangs, prairies, cultures) en très bon état de conservation. Il constitue un complexe d'intérêt majeur pour l'avifaune, en migration ou en nidification.
Il est situé au coeur de la Champagne humide, axe migratoire très important et reconnu internationalement (zone Ramsar des étangs de la Champagne humide). |
