Other Site Characteristics
| Cette ZPS englobe 3 secteurs géographiques distincts ; à savoir, les collines de l'Argonne marnaise au nord, le vaste massif forestier de Belval au centre et le bassin versant de la Vière au sud.
La multitude de zones humides (étangs et cours d'eau), forêts, pâtures et prairies bocagères constitue une mosaïque de milieux naturels propices à l'accueil de diverses espèces d'oiseaux d'eau et espèces paludicoles, mais aussi de nombreuses libellules patrimoniales. Par ailleurs, situé à l'intérieur d'un couloir migratoire important, ce site est primordial pour la reproduction, l'alimentation, l'hivernage ou la migration de l'avifaune.
La sylviculture, l'agriculture et la pisciculture constituent les principales activités exercées sur le site. L'enjeu principal de ces sites est donc de concilier les activités économiques et culturelles avec la préservation des différents types de milieux. |
4.2 Quality and importance
| La ZPS des Etangs d'Argonne se situe pour sa partie Nord en Argonne et pour sa partie sud en Champagne humide, labellisée comme site Ramsar. Elle se compose d'une multitude d'étangs et de zones humides favorables au stationnement et à la reproduction d'oiseaux d'eau et d'espèces paludicoles. D'autres espaces naturels tels que les forêts mélangées et les paysages bocagers, zones protectrices et véritables corridors écologiques, abritent également une avifaune riche et diversifiée. |
