Other Site Characteristics

Le site appartient au complexe du bassin parisien constitué ici d'un vaste plateau crayeux du Crétacé supérieur, entaillés par la rivière'Epte et de le fleuve Seine. Le site comprend quatre types de milieux éligibles à la directive: - des coteaux calcicoles avec pelouses à orchidées (Giverny) et bois calcicoles - des grottes abritant des chiroptères - des herbiers à renoncules au sein de la rivière - des bois alluviaux. Comme toutes les rivières, la qualité de l'Epte dépend des activités dans le bassin versant. Des risques de pollutions agricoles et urbaines. Pour le coteau, le problème majeur réside dans l'abandon des pratiques pastorales. Dans le lit majeur, la pérennité des habitats et habitats d'espèces peut être mise en cause par une évolution de l'occupation du sol

4.2 Quality and importance

Rivière aux eaux alcalines disposant d'herbiers à renoncules et de l'une des rares aulnaies alluviales de la région. Pelouses et bois calcicoles très riches. Coteaux comprenant des cavités exceptionnelles, notamment pour le petit rhinolophe. Le lit majeur constitue un site potentiel pour l'agrion de Mercure présent du côté Ile de France de la vallée. De même, de nombreuses peupleraies situées en lit majeur peuvent être rattachées aux groupes des forêts alluviales du fait de la composition floristique de leurs strates herbacée et arbustive.
