Other Site Characteristics

La haute vallée de l'Arnon correspond à un ensemble de gorges et de vallons entourant la retenue de Sidiailles. Il s'agit donc d'un secteur à la topographie accusée, localisé dans la partie cristalline du Sud de la région Centre-Val de Loire, la Marche. Enrésinement des parties sommitales des boisements qui dégraderaient les groupements forestiers actuellement présents. Fermeture progressive des landes et colonisation arbustive des éboulis. Fréquentation touristique modérée autour du plan d'eau.

4.2 Quality and importance

Ce site comporte des espaces bien préservés et en bon état de conservation. Secteurs originaux en région Centre-Val de Loire à divers points de vue (milieux, espèces) du fait de la présence des sols cristallins rares. Remarquable cortège de fougères dans les gorges. Présence de forêts au sol riche et ombragé (notamment de la hêtraie) accueillant des espèces intéressantes typiques des suintements et des milieux frais. Présence d'un cortège d'animaux tout aussi remarquables inscrits à l'annexe II de la directive Habitats tels que la Loutre et le Sonneur à ventre jaune.
