Other Site Characteristics
| Vaste étendue forestière émaillée d'étangs, située en totalité sur les formations sédimentaires du Burdigalien.
Le recul de l'agriculture, et surtout de l'élevage, pratiquement disparus dans certains secteurs, le boisement spontané ou volontaire des landes et des anciens terrains cultivés contribuent à la fermeture du milieu, au recul très significatif des landes. La plupart des étangs, jadis entourés de prairies sont aujourd'hui situés en milieu forestier. Par absence d'entretien, certains sont envahis par les saules ou des roselières banales. Les tourbières et milieux tourbeux régressent par boisement ou modification du régime hydrique. |
4.2 Quality and importance
| On peut distinguer plusieurs ensembles naturels de caractère différent :
- la Sologne des étangs ou Sologne centrale qui recèle plus de la moitié des étangs de la région. Les sols sont un peu moins acides que dans le reste du pays ;
- la Sologne sèche ou Sologne du Cher qui se caractérise par une plus grande proportion de landes sèches à Bruyère cendrée, Callune et Hélianthème faux alysson ;
- la Sologne maraîchère qui abrite encore une agriculture active et possède quelques grands étangs en milieu forestier ;
- la Sologne du Loiret, au nord, qui repose en partie sur des terrasses alluviales de la Loire issues du remaniement du soubassement burdigalien.
La Sologne est drainée essentiellement par la Grande et la Petite Sauldre, affluents du Cher. Certains sous bassins versants recèlent encore des milieux tourbeux (Rère, Croisne, Boutes...). Au nord, le Beuvron et le Cosson affluents de la Loire circulent essentiellement dans des espaces boisés. |
