Ce site qui regroupe trois unités distinctes, s'inscrit dans la région naturelle du Haut-Perche, vaste ensemble géologiquement constitué d'argiles à silex, de sables du Cénomanien et parcouru de petites vallées recouvertes d'alluvions modernes souvent tourbeuses. - Intérêt écologique des zones humides (étangs, tourbières, cours d'eau) tributaire de la préservation de la qualité physico-chimique et du niveau des eaux ainsi que du maintien d'une gestion adaptée des secteurs boisés et des étangs. - Dynamique de fermeture des tourbières, des landes, des mégaphorbiaies ou encore du coteau calcaire de la Bandonnière. - Transformations radicales de l'occupation du sol (drainages, mises en cultures, ...) potentielles.
