Other Site Characteristics

Situé dans les crêtes pré-ardenaises constituées de sédiments jurassiques et infra-crétacés, avec grès, calcaires, marnes et argiles. L'habitat 6210 présent dans les pelouses sèches est à classer en habitat prioritaire du fait de la présence d'un cortège important d'orchidées. Embroussaillement des pelouses et fréquentation humaine de certains sites à chauves-souris. Vandalisation récurrente des grilles du fort de Thonne-le-Thil.

4.2 Quality and importance

Site éclaté regroupant des milieux forestiers (forêt de ravin, aulnaie-frênaie humide, hêtraie), des pelouses à orchidées, formations à buis et à genévrier ainsi que des sources pétrifiantes. Des ouvrages militaires abandonnés, anciens souterrains de la ligne Maginot, abritent jusqu'à six espèces de chauves-souris d'intérêt communautaire.
