Other Site Characteristics

Base géologique granitique .Le défilé de Straiture est composé d'alluvions fluvio-glaciaires, (galets et sables).Il est constitué des plateaux et hauts de versants situés entre la vallée de la Petite Meurthe et la vallée de la Meurthe et des deux versants du défilé de Straiture avec des pentes jusqu'à 50%. Les menaces sur les tourbières paraissent écartées, mais il faut veiller à leur bon fonctionnement hydrologique. Un meilleur équilibre sylvo-cynégétique est nécessaire afin d'obtenir une régénération naturelle sans protection (engrillagement).

4.2 Quality and importance

Massif forestier de montagne bien préservé, avec de vieilles futaies de résineux et de hêtres. La présence de forêts de ravins à érables ou tilleuls avec des îlots d'Ifs est particulièrement remarquable. A noter aussi la présence de pessières naturelles et de nombreuses tourbières. Le Lynx est parfois signalé dans ce secteur très important aussi pour l'avifaune montagnarde.
