Other Site Characteristics

Sol constitué de marnes, recouvertes de limons sur la limite de crête. La tourbière est formée par la résurgence d'une source artésienne en un point du site. Le vallon présente des pentes très peu accusées (altitude de 213 m pour un point bas de 207 m). Le régime de propriété privée rend le site assez vulnérable. Les prairies humides risquent d'être touchées par l'intensification agricole ; toutefois, elles sont éloignées des exploitations et de petite taille.

4.2 Quality and importance

Ensemble de marais-tourbière alcaline au sein d'un ensemble marécageux d'une richesse exceptionnelle. On y trouve l'une des très rares stations lorraines de Liparis loeselii. Ce site abrite également 202 espèces de papillons diurnes et nocturnes.
