Other Site Characteristics

Terrains sédimentaires avec marnes en fond de vallée et alluvions tourbeux. En fond de vallée des couches de sel alternent avec des couches de marnes ou l'eau percole, formant une vallée alluviale halophile. La vallée présente des pentes douces. Difficultés de gestion des prairies lorsqu'elles sont situées en dehors des zones inondables.

4.2 Quality and importance

Ensemble de prairies, marais et sources salées. Les prés salés en secteur continental ont un intérêt exceptionnel. Les dix secteurs halophiles d'intérêt patrimonial majeur ont fait l'objet d'acquisitions ponctuelles dans le cadre d'une ACNAT. Le site Natura 2000 comprend également la plus importante colonie de mise bas du Vespertilion à oreilles échancrées en Lorraine. Cette colonie est mixte avec le Grand murin. L’importance des effectifs du Vespertilion à oreilles échancrées confère au site un intérêt national pour l’espèce.
