Other Site Characteristics

Site éclaté regroupant les marais de Vittoncourt, Vahl-lès-Faulquemont, Ippling, Erstroff, Francaltroff et Lening. Ensemble de tourbières alcalines et marais eutrophes avec ceintures de roselières, molinaies, cariçaies et saulaies basses. Egalement quelques prairies plus sèches. Le site n'est pas considéré comme très vulnérable. La principale menace qui pèse sur ce site serait l'abandon de l'entretien régulier.

4.2 Quality and importance

L'intérêt ornithologique du site repose sur quelques espèces de l'annexe I de la directive 79/409/CEE Oiseaux (indiquées par un astérisque) qui fréquentent le site. En période de reproduction, quelques couples de Pie-grèche écorcheur* ou de Pic mar* sont présents sur le site. Celui-ci accueille également plusieurs espèces paludicoles comme la Locustelle tachetée, la Rousserolle verderolle et le Phragmite des joncs. La reproduction du Tarier des prés et de la Pie-grèche grise est également à noter sur le site. Le Milan noir* et la Bondrée apivore*, même s'ils ne nichent pas directement sur le site, l'utilisent pendant la période de reproduction. Le site est également visité en période de migration par le Milan noir*, la Bondrée apivore*, la Bécassine des marais et le Torcol fourmilier. Enfin, le Busard Saint-Martin* est noté en hiver.
